A visit to Vedha Patasala and Gosala - J.K. Sivan

There is an interesting and service minded association uniting all Brahmins belonging to different Dravidian States of Southern part of the country who are comprised of Kannadigas, Telugus, Oriyas, Malayalis and Tamil, and the mission of the H&H TOUR, BSPD, (HISTORY & HERITAGE TOUR, BRAHMANA SABHA PANCHA DRAVIDA) is to visit and interact with inmates of the patasalas, residents of agraharams, members of oldage homes, senior citizen homes etc., to spread the message of benefits derived by adhering to the traditional practices and belief, and realise the benefit of values obtainable from it, as enshrined in the Vedhas as well as other holy scriptures and religious practices followed by our ancestors in accordance with the Sanathana dharma and serve all.

Mrs Vaishalini Karthik leading the recent H&H BSPD Tour, took us on 15th Sept 2018 to the Chathurvedha Patasala, at Athur Village, Chengalpattu – to interact with the small children from different parts of the country undergoing training in Vedhas. A Go sala with about 25 cows, calves and bulls, is attached to the Patasala. The Patasala this year has about 120 vidhyarthis, aging 5 to 20 providing them with free boardin and lodging besides freely educating them to learn the Vedhas, the complete course being for about 8 years to become full fledged Ganapaadigal.

I am glad I was invited as a Special Invitee for the above Tour. I was happy to speak to the children at the Patasala and tell them stories of Krishna and observed their interest in listening to spiritual stories. I distributed books and publications of SREE KRISHNARPANAM SEVA SOCIETY authored by me on various spiritual topics. The discipline and unity of the children from different parts of the land, is quite laudable.

A couple of senior students of the Patasala who knew the manthras for performing Go Puja, enabled us to do the Pooja to cows and calves in the Go sala.

We shared the lunch with the children of the Patasala and on our way back, visited the Govindhan Gosala at Endathur, Madurantakam, run and administered by Sri Radhakrishnan, who has dedicated his life to Gosamrakshanam. His message: ''The Cows protect us"
