GITA 5000 - 10.12.17

GITA 5000 YEAR OLD......

Sunday, 10th December 2017 proved to be a ''Thanks giving day'' to Lord Krishna for the invaluable Gita He had gifted to us, through Arjuna, the Nara, of the inseparable two, NARA- NARAYANA on Earth.

It is about five thousand years almost now, since Lord Krishna preached Bhagavat Gita at Kurukshethra war field, on an Ekadasi Day, which fell exactly on 30.11.17, but being a working day we thought we would celebrate it on Sunday, 3rd December,2017. Again it was a Sarva Deepam Day and many would be at home praying to Lord Siva in commemoration of Annamalai Deepam and so we deferred the celebration to Sunday the 10th December 2017. Children who participated in this function, recited Gita slokas from various lchapters. A six year old was remarkable in his rendering the slokas of 17th chapter absolutely at ease.

Nama Sankeerthan by Mrs Rajalakshmi, joined by a team of children was an interesting devotional performance joined by all repeating the namas.

Arpudha Sorperukkar Sri U.Ve. Vadagarai Naa. Vijayaraghavan Iyengar, the learned Sri Vaishnava speaker performed the Arathi and offered the naivedhyam of Prasadh to Lord Krishna before commencing his lecture on ''Gita Saaram''. He was explicit in his analytical presentation of each and every chapter of the eighteen adhyayas of Gita in his own inimitable style combining with relevant quotes of Pas

urams from Nammalwar, Thirumangai Alwar et al from Prabhandham. His ninety minute speech was thought provoking and quite interesting.

Mr. Narayanan, the son of Sri Vijayaraghava Iyengar, in his speech, identified the modern Management techniques and commercial business principles and approaches, to be nothing but borrowed ideas and ideals from Gita. He quoted from Peter Drucker and other Management, Economic and Philosophical intellectuals establishing that their views were only the echo of what Lord Krishna had advocated five thousand years ago to Arjuna in His Gita.

Free copies of VISWAROOPAN KAATUM VAZHI, (Gita narration in Tamil by Sri J.K.Sivan) and GLORIES OF GITA (stories on 18 Chapters of Gita, by Smt Gayathri Jambunathan) were distributed to all present.

The interesting program organised by SREE KRISHNARPANAM SEVA SOCIETY, NANGANALLUR, was held at No.20, 1st Main Road, and Sri Sundaram Ramachandran, Secy, SKSS, welcomed the audience and Sri K.Sugavanam, Committee Member delivered vote of Thanks to all, while the function was presided over by Sri J.K.Sivan, Chairman, SKSS.
