A VALUE BASED CURRICULUM
J.K. SIVAN

On 25th of June 2017 I had a great opportunity to meet many teachers belonging to the Amrita Vidyalaya, Chennai. The school has more than 2000 children studying in this Higher Secondary School, efficiently coached according to CBSE standard and syllabus. The school has spacious class rooms, a large play ground and buses for transporting children to and from school to their respective places of residence.

I was invited to this school situated at Nesappakkam, near Ramavaram, to judge and select winners in an oratorical competition organized for teachers. There are more than 100 teachers in this school and the finalists in the competition numbered about 10. Everyone of them spoke very nicely and it was really a tough task for me to select the first three winners. The subject given was connected with our epics and discipline.

I enjoyed for nearly three hours the excellent speeches made by the teachers and presented them SKSS PUBLICATIONS as compliments and encouraged their participation in such events to improve their teaching skill and expression besides exchanging views of fellow teachers to add to their knowledge as well.

Amrita Vidyalayam schools are all over India managed and ably run by the Math of Matha Amruthananda Mayi, (AMMA) where they concentrate and give imporance to discipline, faith in religion besides spiritual and academic progress of the children.
