25.12.17 PNN PERFORMANCE

XMAS 2017 A MEMORABLE DAY - - J.K. SIVAN
25th December 2017 was a memorable and happy day for me not because of the Merry Xmas occasion, but it was on that day, seven young children of PREMALAYA NATYA NIKETAN, NANGANALLUR, gave an excellent dance performance.
The seven young children aged between 5 and 12 under the stewardship of their illustrious, dedicated and experienced Dance Master Smt Latha Aravindan, staged their Salangai Pooja initial dance performance .
The venue was Rani Seethai Hall, Annasalai, which was filled up to its capacity even before the program started sharp at 4 pm. The seven children, all below twelve, named V. Tanusri, J.S. Sastika, R. Amirtha, S.K.. Nandikaa, R.R. Vaishnavi, S. Pavithraa and R. Nithila, without any stage fear, exhibited their skill marvellously playing the allotted role given to them under proper training by the maestro Smt Latha Aravindan, who did the choreography and Nattuvangam for this program..
The children received their Salangai, after customary pooja and prayer to Lord Nataraja, and obtaining the blessing of their Guru, from the hands of the two Chief Guests, Mrs Kumudaa Srinivasa Raghavan, professional Dancer from Velachery and from Sri. J.K.Sivan, Chairman of Sree Krishnarpanam Seva Society, Nanganallur.
The dance program was almost for about 2 hours commencing with Pushpanjali, Alarippu, Jatiswaram . There was a special song befitting Ayyappan Season, captioned as ''Ayyappan Mallaari''. The smallest dancer was the Ayyappan and was accompanied by another child dressed as His tiger. Both were best suited for their roles. The next in the agenda was the varnam, ''Vanna Mayil Vahanane'' specially composed for the occasion by Premalaya Natya Niketan, choreographed to beautifully narrate the Skandam, Kandhapuranam, and the two children who acted as an elephant god Ganesa and Surapadman as Cock received standing ovation and continued claps. The next to follow were Meenakshi Unjal, and the popular Annamacharya's kriti Brammam Okate. The concluding piece of the program was was a nicely prepared song in Madhyamavathi signifying the Mangalam of the memorable dance program of the day. The accompanying orchestra of professional vocalist, flutist, mridangist, and konnakkol specialists did an excellent job to add to the success of the program.
Prizes were given to the children while their parents were called to the dais and honoured by the chief guests
Mr. J.K.Sivan during his speech recalled the association of PREMALAYA NATYA NIKETAN with SREE KRISHNARPANAM SEVA SOCIETY, since late 2013, when the first publication of SKSS named ''VISWAROOPANIN VAMANA KADHAIGAL'' was released after the dance program named ''KRISHNARPANAM'' was performed PNN students. He also narrated the origin of Bharatha Natyam, the treasures in the form of beautiful statues in the temples of Chidambaram, Tanjore and Gangaikonda chozhapuram among other ancient temples, which depict in store, the various mudras of Bharatha Natyam, its signifiacance,. Bharatha natyam in fact helps to strengthen the muscles of leg and flexible movement of the body limbs and face from health point of view. It teaches the discipline, obedience and steadfast regularity in practicing the skill. Ever dancer of our great Bharath, is a proud cultural ambassador and demonstrator of the great art we have developed from time immemorial.
Smt Latha Aravindan has already trained more than two hundred disciples who perform as full fledged trained dancers and it is a matter of pride for Nanganallur citizens.
Sree Krishnarpanam seva Society distributed their publications on various occasions to the students of PNN and thank Smt Latha Aravindan for the opportunity given to witness and enjoy something of a son et lumiere performance of her students and wish there will be more such occasions in the future
