ARISE AND AWAKE....TIME HAS COME. -- J.K SIVAN .

ARISE AND AWAKE....TIME HAS COME. -- J.K SIVAN .
WE Repeatedly come to know of the damage caused to our ancient temples and holy places constructed very happily by the kings and our ancestors many centuries ago. These temples and holy places were meant mainly for our welfare and righteous way of life. Unfortunately we have neglected them and spend o
ur time in entertainments, eating houses and holiday trips with family and friends. It is of course a must for every family to enjoy week ends and holidays in entertainment, and pleasure spots, but we do have a duty to protect our heritage and follow our tradition. We have not sprung from heaven and dropped on this earth of our own volition, nor are we emigrants from the West.
Everyday we hear, see and read about damages caused to our temples, theft of our invaluable vigrahams, and uncaredfor condition of our temples. Most of us do not even know which is our family deity and whch is the temple our ancestors regularly worshipped for our welfare.
Recently I wrote an article about our large temples titled
I referred in this article about these rare temples, which have withstood the test of time for many centuries still open for us to visit and worship and specially mentioned the need to protect the architecture and the skilful art work of our ancestors and artisans which are evident in these temples.
Let us make it a practice and habit in a way, to visit temples with all our family members, particularly children to make them know the value of our heritage and imbibe in them the need and interest to know more and more about our traditional Sanathana way of life.
I thank on behalf of all of you, offer our pranams to the two great internationally reputed scholars and stalwarts in Hindu Sanathana Dharma, who have dedicated most of their life in creating the awareness of our tradition and explained the intricacies of Agama system, method of worships of various Hindu deities followed by our ancestors in the past, It is all the more a great privilege for all of us in SREE KRISHNARPANAM SEVA SOCIETY that we have such elderly teachers and gurus for guiding us and the next generation for leading a proper righteous path And they are associated with our Group and today remarked on one of the articles about temples I posted for you all. Their remarks are given below:
DR RAMACHANDRAN NAGASWAMYDirector of Archaeology (Retired)
Former Vice chancellor, Kanchipuram University
Ramachandran Nagaswamy, Dr. (b.1930) obtained Masters degree in Sanskrit language and literature (Madras) and Ph.D. in Indian Arts (Poona).

Dr.R.N. served as Curator for Art and Archaeology, Madras Museum (1959-63) and later joined the Tamilnadu State Department of Archaeology as Assistant Special Officer (1963-65) and became the First Director of Archaeology of the State and held that post till retirement (1966-88). After retirement he headed the Epigraphy Program, EFEO Pondichery, and as Consultant, Government of India, Documentation of Cultural property Tanjavur Brahadisvara Project (UNDP program), under the Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts .
Dr.R.N made Archaeology a very popular subject in Tamilnadu, especially among Children through publication of Pocket book guides. He was also responsible for involving several thousand School and College students in cleaning and preserving near by historical places and monuments. He also popularized monuments by bringing out popular guides in the form of News-paper, priced at ten paise per copy.
He was responsible for protecting several historic monuments like the First cent. Chera inscriptions at Pugalur, the Palace site of the the Imperial Cholas at Gangai-konda-cholapuram, the famous 17th cent Thirumalai Nayak palace at Madurai, the 17th cent, Danish Fort at Tranquebar, and the birth place of Great National Poet Subramanya Bharati at Ettayyapuram besides excavating the palace site of Virapandya-kattabomman at Pancalamkurchi.

An acknowledged International Expert on South Indian Bronzes, RN appeared as an Expert Witness in the London High Court, in the now famous London Nataraja case. The Judge of the London High Court, in his Judgement described Dr.Nagaswamy as an unequalled expert in his subject.
He was mainly instrumental in developing the State department of archaeology in all aspects of Archaeological activity and started as many as 12 regional museums including a Prehistoric museum at Poondi, and Islamic museum at North Arcot besides a number of District museums and site museums. He started an Institute of Epigraphy under the Tamilnadu State Department of Archaeology to train students in post-graduate diploma in Epigraphy and Art.
Dr.R.N undertook to popularize Art and Archeology through Dance and Music at archaeological sites and monuments as at Gangai-konda-cholapuram, Madurai, Darasuram and so on. He composed several dance dramas on historic themes like the life of Rajaraja chola, Rajendra chola, Manimekhalai, Arunagirinathar, Appar and others, and presented them in different parts of India and also in foreign countries like Germany, Sweden, U.K, Canada and USA.

Dr R Nagaswamy is pained at the decay and continued regular destruction of our ancient temples and has voiced his concern as below in our FB group.
'' Daily one or other ancient temple is getting destroyed in the hands of Department which has usurped all Hindu temples and are causing havoc. But our society is more interested in myth and legend and are supremely indifferent. Where is civilized life?
It is not just for reading but to take it seriously and do something to atleast prevent further damage and loss to our future generation.
Another great scholar Sri V.S. Krishnan, an elderly erudite and eminent thinker, speaker and writer on our Sanathana Dharma, residing at Coimbatore had voiced his concern as below IN OUR FB GROUP TODAY.
'' Our tradition, our art, our tradition, our adherence to principles of Dharma, our devotion all these make Tamil culture the greatest in the world. Every one of us should be proud of it and also take a pledge we will cherish this culture''..

RAMANA

BHAGAVAN SRI RAMANA'S TALKS :

IT IS NOT DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND BHAGAVAN RAMANA IF YOU READ THE QUESTIONS PUT TO HIM AND THE ANSWERS GIVEN BY HIM, SLOWLY, CONCENTRATING ON EACH WORD ATTENTIVELY WITH INVOLVEMENT AND INTEREST TO LEARN.- It is made simple for you. So you will enjoy profusely. JKS

The kramamukti  (liberation by degrees) school say that the upasaka goes to the region of his Ishta Devata which is Brahmaloka to him. The souls passing to all other lokas return to be reborn. But those who have gained the Brahmaloka do not. Moreover those desirous of a particular loka can by proper methods gain the same.Whereas Brahmaloka cannot be gained so long as there is any desire left in the person. Desirelessness alone will confer the loka on him. His desirelessness signifies the absence of the incentive for rebirth.
The age of Brahma is practically immeasurable. The presiding deity of the loka is said to have a definite period of life. When he passes away his loka also is dissolved. The inmates are emancipated at the same time, irrespective of the different nature of individual consciousness in them prior to Self-realisation.

The kramamukti school objects to the idea of   ‘ sadyomukti’  (immediate liberation) because the Jnani is supposed to lose body-consciousness at the same time that ignorance is dispelled but he continues to live in the body.

“How does the body function without the mind?”

‘’Knowledge (jnana) is not incompatible with ignorance (ajnana) because the Self in purity is found to remain along with ignorance-seed (ajnana beeja) in sleep. But the incompatibility arises only in the waking and dream states.
Ajnana has two aspects: avarana (veiling) and vikshepa (multiplicity). Of these, avarana (veiling) denotes the veil hiding the Truth. That prevails in sleep. Multiplicity (vikshepa) is activity in different times. This gives rise to diversity and prevails in waking and dream states (jagrat and svapna). If the veil, i.e., avarana is lifted, the Truth is perceived. It is lifted for a Jnani and so his karanasarira (causalbody) ceases to exist.Vikshepa alone
Continues for him. Even so, it is not the same for a Jnani as it is for an ajnani.

The ajnani has all kinds of vasanas, i.e., kartrtva (doership) and bhoktrtva (enjoyership), whereas the Jnani has ceased to be doer (karta). Thus only one kind of vasana obtains for him. That too is very weak and does not overpower him, because he is always aware of the Sat-Chit-Ananda nature of the Self. The tenuous bhoktrtva vasana is the only remnant of the mind left in the Jnani and he therefore appears to be living in the body.

This explanation when applied to the mantra amounts to this:

A Jnani has his karana sarira destroyed; the sthula sarira (gross body) has no effect on him and is for all practical purposes destroyed too. The sukshma sarira (subtle body) alone remains. It is otherwise called ativahika sarira. It is this which is held by all persons after the physical body is given up. And with this they traverse to other lokas until another suitable physical body is taken. The Jnani is supposed to move in Brahmaloka with this sukshma sarira. Then that is also dissolved and he passes to final Liberation.

The whole explanation is meant only for the onlooker. The Jnani
himself will never raise such questions. He knows by his experience

that he is not bound by any kind of limitations.

ENGAL VAMSAM:

SWAMIJI'S TIME

SWAMIJI'S TIME - J.K. SIVAN

THE CULTURE OF HINDUS

Every one can easily perceive that in the spiritual realm India conquers the world. No doubt it is true that just as the too active Western mind would profit by an admixture of Eastern introspection and the meditative habit, so the Eastern would benefit by a somewhat greater activity and energy. Still we must ask: What may be that force which causes this afflicted and suffering people, the Hindu, and the Jewish too (the two races from which have originated all the great religions of the world) to survive, when other nations perish? The cause can only be their spiritual force. The Hindus are still living though silent, the Jews are more numerous today than when they lived in Palestine. The philosophy of India percolates throughout the whole civilised world, modifying and permeating as it goes. So also in ancient times, her trade reached the shores of Africa before Europe was known, and opened communication with the rest of the world, thus disproving the belief that Indians never went outside of their own country.
It is remarkable also that the possession of India by a foreign power has always been a turning-point in the history of that power, bringing to it wealth, prosperity, dominion, and spiritual ideas. While the Western man tries to measure how much it is possible for him to possess and to enjoy, the Eastern seems to take the opposite course, and to measure how little of material possessions he can do with. In the Vedas we trace the endeavour of that ancient people to find God. In their search for Him they came upon different strata; beginning with ancestor worship, they passed on to the worship of Agni, the fire-god, of Indra, the god of thunder, and of Varuna, the God of gods. We find the growth of this idea of God, from many gods to one God, in all religions; its real meaning is that He is the chief of the tribal gods, who creates the world, rules it, and sees into every heart; the stages of growth lead up from a multiplicity of gods to monotheism.

This anthropomorphic conception, however, did not satisfy the Hindus, it was too human for them who were seeking the Divine. Therefore they finally gave up searching for God in the outer world of sense and matter, and turned their attention to the inner world. Is there an inner world? And what is it? It is Âtman. It is the Self, it is the only thing an individual can be sure of. If he knows himself, he can know the universe, and not otherwise. The same question was asked in the beginning of time, even in the Rig-Veda, in another form: "Who or what existed from the beginning?" That question was gradually solved by the Vedanta philosophy. The Atman existed. That is to say, what we call the Absolute, the Universal Soul, the Self, is the force by which from the beginning all things have been and are and will be manifested.
