A PIECE OF ADVICE FOR CAREER BUILDING
So if we stop to think for a moment choosing a career is one of those momentous decisions that can change the course of one's life. You have to think a lot, and introspect , collate and analyse a good lot of relevant information and self-examination before a decision is finally taken. A few points are worth considering and noting.
1. Your career is based on your work style. At 80 I am happily spending not less than 20 hours before my PC because I like reading and writing in between my short intervals of sleep for a few minutes. I forget time, age and health and nothing is wrong with me because my work style leads to unlimited happiness. If you are a self-starter, aiming to accomplish your own goals, and do something at your best, then an honest evaluation of your work style will help you decide your career. If you're naturally a daydreamer or a procrastinator, you may certainly need a supervisor to help you stay on task! .
2 Do you have a hobby or a talent, which at you love and are good at? Check and improve to transform activities that come naturally to you into a career. You would certainly have some innate talent and capability, born of involvement and special thoughts, say for example carpentry skill, playing an instrument, singing, appearing grand with different hair styles and such a specialisation can lead to careers as a successful custom furniture marker, a musician or a hair stylist.etc. What you love to do leads you to a rewarding career.
3. This is for youngsters, who should choose a career where one can earn enough money to meet one's financial goals. If you dreamof owning a vacation resort home, go on tourism, or wishing to buy a comfortable vehicle etc., your career as a clerk in a government office (without receiving bribes of course) will not help you achieve your dream. You have to compromises all along your life's path then and there to manage to reach your financial goals well within your means..
4. Many parents blindly throw away a good lot of money paying for the education and training of their wards, before making sure the career aptitude of their children and then decide whether it is worth the expense on some other career path of life..
5. Character has a great role to play in one's career. In any job normally a minimum of atleast 33% of life time is spent for everyone employed. You have to work with different types of people you work with. If you are by nature, a loner who doesn't enjoy social interaction, you may be well-suited to a career where you work independently or work from home. If you love to meet new people, you may find a career in sales, marketing and public relations, quite fulfilling, where you work with the general public.
6. A fruitful minimum half an hour informational interview with someone who has a job of your choice can help you develop your career When I was 18 and joined the State Govt job, on the very first day of joining as a clerk I asked about my promotions and increments!! I had to resign the job 7 years later after I qualified for my promotions and never had the increments and elevation I dreampt.

7. If you cannot learn by yourself using the teach-yourself-tools , a professional career coach might be of help to assess you, measure your aptitude for fitness and success in your desired career. Many people change jobs and end up frustrated as --master of none Jacks.
8. I read once a good lot of books by James Hadley Chase, during my youth, paying just 25 paise for reading a book at a Lending Library book shop right in front of Mambalam Railway station in the crowded street of vegetable vendors on a first floor and remember still the name of a book ''VULTURES ARE PATIENT BIRDS''. I dont have to remember what was written in the book because most of them was murder, killing for money, gang attack etc., all sorts of rubbish... I remember the name because you have to be patient and balanced waiting for the right career. It is a long drawn process, not an event. At some entry level position in your field may not be to your dream satisfaction but it will and can give you a foothold on the career ladder you want to climb. It takes time to develop your career, but setting goals and following a plan to achieve them can help you fulfill your career aspirations.
