NEW YEAR WISH FOR A HAPPY LIFE -- J K SIVAN
Minding one's own business without interfering in others' matters or offering opinion is a good sign for happiness in life. I say this because of my experience and knowledge that many of us suffer from problems created by our ownselves, interfering too much in others' affairs, either knowingly or unknowingly. Such interference is encouraged because we are convinced that our way is the best way, our logic is the perfect solution, and others who dont contribute, follow or share our view, or thinking must be fools not knowing the right direction. Thus we forget and are ignorant that there is existence of individuality and consequently the existence of God, for God has created each one of us in a unique way. No two persons can think or act alike. All are acting in the way they opt, prompted and guided by the Divine force within. God watches and looks after everything. Why are we bothered? Minding our own business will bring immense peace to which we missed otherwise..
We have a tendency to harbour ill feeling inside our heart for the person who we think has insulted or harmed us. It is our wrong feeling. We foster grievances, which gifts us with sleeplessness, stomach ulcer, high BP if not any other ailments gnawing us from within.
Of course whatever insult or injury we suffered was once, let it be, but nourishing and fostering the grievance is aggravating the situation and wound is prevented from healing by itself. Let us develop and practice the art of forgiving and forgetting. Believe in the justice of God and the doctrine of Karma. Let Him judge the act of everyone. Our Life on earth is too short to miss the chance of enjoying the happiness offered everymoment by Nature for us.
If I imagine and feel I am a great writer and that everyone in the world should compulsorily read whatever I scribble, appreciate and stand applauding my writing. Why, they dont do it? Everyone is selfish and praises anyone only with selfish motive. Each person is a mortal with a bundle of defects in them. No one individual is picture perfect. Then why do you value the words of praise of another mortal like you? Why do you crave for such false recognition and lose your peace of mind.
There is another thing known as Jealousy which can rob us of our peace of mind. We sometimes feel that despite our working very hard and sincerely, some of our colleagues in the office do, get promotions, and increments in salary unjustified.
There was a time when street vendors thrived bringing us all our requirements in carts right in front of our doors on the streets. But change in the environment has brought now many departmental stores in huge complexes close to our residence, where can get anything we want at a stretch. Who will now wait for the cart to bring only limited things of what we desire? We need to grow friendly and adapt ourselves to changing environment.
Meditation for atleast thirty minutes is enough to gain peace and inner strength whch can take care of the other twenty three and half hours of our life in a day. Gradually we can practice and increase the duration of our meditation to gain more benefits. Our efficiency and power of decision making would increase.
