A LAUDABLE EFFORT - J.K. SIVAN

I have introduced Mrs Geetha Viswanathan of Gurgaon, to you all, who is a frail sickly and elderly person retired from Govt service nearly a decade ago. This FB friend has numerous health problems but gifted with the talent of painting on the canvas. I have circulated a good number of her water color paintings in this FB /Whatsapp group. She called me a couple of days ago that in between her hospitalisation and medical check up, has learnt at this late stage and age, from a renouned painter undergoing classes of oil painting. Her first oil painting is that of HH Paramacharya. She sent it exactly on 20th May, yesterday, the birth day of Paramacharya.

I quote her recent msg to me in part:

I devoted my full energy to complete d Mahaperiyava’s portrait .. & completed on Friday 18-5-18..

FOR UR INFORMATION, I HV NEVER DONE ANY OIL PAINTING. Whatever I hv done & shared with u via whatsapp were all ACRYLIC PAINTING ON CANVAS .

I got the contact of a very Good PROFESSIONAL ARTIST—HER FEE RATES R QUITE COSTLY- ₹1000/= PER HOUR-, but I MADE UP MY MIND TO LEARN IT & SO THE PINCH OF MONEY IS NOT FELT— I took 14 classes & in the last two classes she taught me for nearly more than 2 hrs - but took few only for one hr- she said that she felt happy to teach a very senior person like me who shows that much of interest. . I started the work on 18-4-18, just 10 days after I got discharged from hospital last month.. we came to know abt her only last month— I approached her for doing a portrait work on Maha periyava which she agreed , but unfortunately I had to get admitted in hospital within d next 2 days ..so again I went to her on Apr 18 th & started d oil work .. ( it is very difficult ,compared to my usual acrylic painting ) & completed it on Friday 18-5-18, exactly after one month.. acrylic dries faster.. oil takes more time to dry .. I hv not nailed & hang it on wall

Placed HIM on a chair, spread with a Pattu saree, & did Pooja today .. made Aval payasam & vadai . PLAYED D STOTHRAM -Guru pathugashtm stothram from YOU TUBE was played, Grandson recited” Guru brahma...''
