A MEMORABLE DAY - J.K. SIVAN
On 29th May 2018 I was busy in attending a couple of places where Maha Periyava Anusha 125 birth anniversay celebrations were held in a grand manner.
The first one was at Adambakkam, purely by the sincere effort of an individual devotee of Periyava, who for the past nearly a decade has been celebrating it in the best possible way, feeding a few, performing homa, rithwik chanting of Rudhram Chamakam, Sukthams, etc., besides performing a Dhampathi pooja, to some elderly couple, and in the evening procession of Maha Periyava picture in the neighbouring streets and distribution of prasad. Ofcourse I was happy to be invited for the Dhampathi pooja with my wife.
The second occasion was a visit to 'PERIYAVA ILLAM'' a house dedicated to Maha Periyava pictures, lectures, and sathsang, besides being a Patasala for training brahmin children in Vedhas.
Sri Prakash, a dedicated bachelor septuagenerian, who first met me at our SKSS STALL IN VELACHERI, DURING HINDU SANATHANA SPIRITUAL FAIR this year, runs the Patasala with his own efforts and donations. He says ''Our Krishna Yajur Veda Patasala is run by our trust " Thiaga Sastha Trust" since 2002 under the able guidance of our guru Shri Sethalapathi Subramania Ganapadigal. So far 6 Ganapadigals and 8 Kramapatigals have completed their course and we have 11 students at present. Donors are eligible for their donation to our trust under Sec 80 G of IT Act. Pl visit us.'' It is now upto you to encourage the activities of Sri Prakash and assist him in his noble cause. The institution is at Madampakkam. Sri Prakash can be contacted at his mob No.92831 70890
I was happy to be with the present set of Vidyarthis who are undergoing training in Vedas at the Patasala.
I was equally happy to speak on Maha Periyava's Grace and the unforgettable miraculous experiences of some of the devotees. Incidentally I met with a 93+ super senior Sanskrit teacher who lives alone, cooking his food, washing his clothes and walking nearly 1 km or two from his place to the Patasala to teach sanskrit freely to all . Something we should learn from such persons to serve fellowmen. I presented the laminated pictures of Adhi Sankara and Parfamacharya and freely distributed a few copies of my latest book on Adhi Sankara ''Sankara Prasadham'' containing a few slokas of the Acharya with meanings in tamil.
