Guduvancheri Anjaneyar Temples J.K SIVAN
It is interesting to know about a few temples in Tamilnadu. Guduvanchery is not far away from Chennai and I visited the temples of two different Anjaneys there.
Anjaneya, as you know, is a great devotee of Lord Rama. He is known to be a staunch Brahmachari, a bachelor, or celibate as we call those unmarried.
Thailavaram, is a small village on the GST highway, leading to Trichy from Chennai. We have to travel about 40 km from Chennai on the above GST highway to reach this place. It is between Maraimalai Nagar and Guduvancheri.
There is a small Hanuman temple in the above village. This temple is special because Lord Hanuman is found here along with his divine consort Suvarchala Devi. He is called Kalyana Anjaneyar and anybody will guide you to this temple if you ask where is Kalyana Anjaneyar temple. This temple is located next to the famous SRM Engineering College.
The Kalyana Anjaneyar temple is perhaps the only temple where Lord Hanuman is found along with his wfe, the divine consort Suvarchala devi.
The temple is very small and not crowded. It is set in a peaceful environment. Lord Hanuman’s idol is about eight feet tall with four hands. I have never seen a Hanuman like this before. The goddess Suvarchala Devi is with Hanuman in the form of Utsav vigraham .
This small temple has an enormous bell of about 32 feet high. The height of the bell, measures 18 feet with a flag at its mast. The 18 feet concept is said to stand for the 18 chapters of the `Bhagavad Gita.'
There is something special to mention about this temple. The sannithi is constructed as a a huge bell named Ghanta Sthamba and houses Lord Rama with his consort Sita Devi and Lakshmana. The utsava moorthi of this Lord is periodically taken out on lprocession. The moola vigraham of Ramar is situated deep inside the bell and not easily visible. It is made of Rosewood.
At the base of the bell are four small statues of Anjaneya, with His hands folded. This is a recent temple of less than a hundred year.
Details of this temple can be obtained from Sri Seetha Rama Sath Sangam and Sri Guru Seva Samithi Ashram, GST Road, Dakshina Brindaranyam, Thailavaram -- 603 203 Phone : +919444294783

There is a reference to Hanuman’s wife in Parasura Samhita. Suvarchala is the daughter of Lord Surya (the Sun God), who was the guru of Lord Hanuman. But many of us are not aware of this.
