KNOW YOUR KRISHNA: - J.K. SIVAN
There is a disturbing account in Vyasa's Mahabharata.
Kurukshetra war between Kouravas and Pandavas, ended after 18 days of fierce battle resulting in the death of all the hundred sons of Dhritharashtra and Gandhari.
On the night of Duryodhana's death, Lord Krishna visited Gandhari at Hasthinapuram palace, to offer His condolences.
Gandhari felt that Krishna knowingly did not put an end to the war, and in a fit of rage and sorrow, Gandhari , having lost all her hundred sons, cursed that Krishna, along with everyone else from His Yadhu dynasty, would perish after 36 years.
Krishna Himself knew well ahead that His avathar has come to an end and wanted this to happen as He felt that the Yadavas had become very haughty and arrogant (adharmi),
so He ended Gandhari's speech by saying "tathastu" (so be it).
